New Thing

God is constantly doing a new thing

Are we recognizing the new?

As fresh?

Are we passing it by?

With disdain?

Because it doesn’t match the pictures in our head?

Do we even perceive it?

The glistening beckoning forth—

The arrow pointing a new way—

And so much happens to fulfill the new direction

But we miss it completely

Not seeing the connection

Not accounting correctly

Seeming so random

So old

Minutiae

The anchor is up

We are going forth

Seeing the deep blue

New ocean

But we think they’re the same

Waters  we’ve already traveled

Oh, God reveal to us the glistening

Of the new dawn

Show us the shimmer

Of the new

For this new water route,

Although it looks the same,

Is taking us to a place

We just haven’t yet perceived
