Thank You For The Quiet (an ode to july)

The calm before

The next storm

The time

Before the action-

Oriented one

The time to fuel

To stock up

To get fit

For the next

Race

The time of quiet

Where I’m tempted

To complain

Or consider mundane

Obscure

At best

But really

It’s a gift

If I don’t

Take it for what it is,

I might stall out

On the next part of the journey

So, thanks for

The boring days

The slow pace

The days that feel

A little bit meaningless

Thanks for the preparation–

The rest

That sometimes I deem

Not a success.
