Seen
To be seen
The craving we see
In humanity
In me
To be seen
“Look mom!
Watch me!!!”
The 100th dive
Into the pool
“Okay, honey
I seeee!”
Says, the exhausted mom
Barely
“Read my thing
Listen to my song
Watch me work
Let me show off”
But don’t look!
“Avoidant attachment,” they say
Maybe
But truly,
This craving we all have that
Gnaws
Tears
Rips
Us right down
Inside
It’s only meant to be nourished
By the Holy One
The only one who fills
The gaping hole
That’s there
It might be satiated for
A little
While
But don’t worry,
It will return
To comfort
You
With another craze
And crave
It even has us hiding
Because ‘maybe we won’t find…
The Holy Filling
We chase to find’
The comfort here
Is this:
This hunger
This thirst
It’s a sign you’re still breathing
A sign
You’re alive
You were made for more than this
Why would you ever set out to find it
If you already had it?
You are made for adventure
So want it
Crave it
Hunt it down
The Holy Scripture
Promises a man
Who points The Way
To those who seek
& says they’ll find
Blessings to those that seek
Hardest
Because although
Their life may seem arduous
Maybe the joke is really here for
Them
Maybe they’ll look back with castles, diamonds, and pearls
And laugh with head back
And remember the whisper they said each waking moment
To themselves:
“Keep going…I know it’s real.
You will see.
One day, you will.”
