A Reason For Chores

Laziness?

Mess

Undone things

Could it be

Apathy?

Something sinister

& bad?

The thing 

That goes undone

Please give them a nice big reason

To come to the forefront

It’s not that they’re not “important”

But there are far more important things

Here 

On the front burner

To be seen

To see

To quest after 

That bring delight, pleasure,

Peace, rest

Authentic living

Motivation

Drive for living

“Joie de vivre!”

So, yes

We’re all capable

Of the chores

Cleaning the mess

When they’re important

They’ll be important

Even someone else saying, 

“Please do this…”

Might just be enough

So don’t gawk 

Oh, please

Or judge 

Potential 

Based on a messy room

Untidy car 

Simply take it as:

“Creative genius”

“Nutty Professor” 

Or something nice 

Because what we invest in 

Pays dividends 

Creates a future

That’s cushy and nice

Even if its value

Is unintelligible 

To the naked eye 

Not up to par with 

This

 “Nuanced” 

Or “mysteriously” 

Trained 

Vision 

Let me tell you

There was once a day

Where my mama

Trained me on chores

Check.

Just do them when it makes sense

When it’s a blessing

Don’t act like 

The to-do list 

Is the ball n’ chain

Chores were made for man

Not man for the chore

Creative work

When they don’t

They’re minutia 

And slavery

That’s right

So get to the real livin’

That calls to your spirit 

Choose the tasks

That serve the vision

That will bring light to your eyes

And joy to your heart
