Dream Yielding

If you think of yourself as a dreamer—someone who has done the work to unlock their adult imagination, however arduous that climb out of “left brain las” has been…

If you’re a dreamer by nature and since childhood, you’ve coped with life by leaving, just a little bit…

However it started for you, I’m sure the title of this is cringe-worthy enough—so way to go, not flitting at the sight of a “yield,”  kite string, air balloon basket, or an anchored boat—if you will.

Maybe you’re even a secret dreamer, who has willed yourself to make your vernacular mundane or predictable, just so you’d get the criticism off your back, so you could enjoy your inner life in peace…

Whoever you are, this is for you:

How many years will you put the dream

On hold

For finances

The right crew

The energy level you need

To make the dream complete?

You’ve been strategizing

All this time

Asking yourself,

“How do I get out of

This town?”

There’s something else at play

You’re not alone.

Your Muse,

Your Dream Consultant

Has an opinion too,

As to what to do

With you

He knows

Where you want to go

But He’s the Ultimate

Strategist

And He knows how

To get you there

In style

With just your kind of flair

Just when you

Had that little

Check in your spirit

Telling you

It wasn’t time—

(Bravo, you!

Waiting is hard

And self-control

Has gone fashionably

Out of style)

Here,

In the “not time yet”

Time,

The Gardner

Was cultivating the

Temperature

Controlling the rain

Planting,

Planning

Down to a T

Just when you

Asked yourself

If you had what

It will take

To accomplish

Your dream,

You didn’t.

And He knew

He was stocking

Your shelves

Helping you to have

The resources

To keep your dream

Alive

So it could be

Sustained

For all of time

All the questioning

Of yourself—

Of your dream,

Wasn’t a waste

Because actually,

That toil was your gain—

Musculature

In maintaining

The flame

Making sure you

Had commitment

And heart

To be the stage

To finally put on

The play.

I know it’s been hard,

But don’t tarry another minute

Counting the cost

Waiting has been your lesson to learn

All the time

You’ve spent in preparation

Will prove

Valuable

All the times you yielded your dream over

Will prove to have built some

Power in you

Rest in the knowledge

That You were made

In the image of The Dreamer—

Your dream was made

Of His stuff

It actually was created

With the materials He gave

And, Oh, He loves to create.

Don’t lose heart just yet,

Your dream is

Coming.

And when it

Appears—

The part you

Couldn’t

Prepare without

His help,

Will make you drop your jaw

It will work

So well.

His building and construction

Were so good,

You couldn’t have planned for the

Dream to pan out

Quite this exact.

He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” —Jim Elliot
