Cheesy

Are these poems

Cheesy?

Prob-ly

I write them from

An honest place

But when you read

Them,

They might come off

All wrong

Hoping to capture tone

The tone

That strikes a chord

Can be tricky

This random assortment

Of words on a page

What’s the goal?

Well, there isn’t one

Not yet

That’s the point

When was the last time

You read something

Without an agenda for your soul?

You really had no

Idea

Where it was going to take you?

The journey is winding

Sometimes terrifying

I promise

I have no idea where

It’s going

But here, together

We make meaning,

You and I

We sit

And we read

Each other's souls

Encountering Spirit

Within

And we find treasure

Here

We go where no one

Has gone before

We find

That where we are going

The circuitous route

Is more fun

The destination

Will delight

And the unknowing

Builds curiosity (for some)

You, see

You’d be bored

Knowing–

Honestly.

I know you better than that!
