Bubbly

“Wind and Crepe Myrtle Concerto”, Alma Thomas

Bubbling up

Is a nice term

For something fresh

Being birthed

Something new unearthed—

Something that was cultivated

With care

Long ago

Being finally

Expressed

But we resist

The rest

It requires

The quiet,

The space

That’s needed

For curiosity—

To care,

To place

Attention on

The new thing

To catch it

Before it disappears

The discipline

In watching,

Waiting—

The grueling nature

Of the not yet

When something

Needs to bake

And hasn’t

Risen yet

You keep checking

The cake

But it’s just not ready yet

It cannot be controlled

Chemistry

Takes time

The reaction

Needs to run its course

To bubble up

Before anything concrete

Appears

For the new thing

That’s been created,

—All of a sudden—

Shows up

It is ready.

And if you don't take it out of the oven just now

It will burn

React quick!

Use the wind

To fly the kite

In this particular moment

The moment it requires

To capture from your Muse

The inspired thing

That you’ve been appointed to

Catch,

To carry,

All this time.

The cadence

Of creativity

Is an art

Let it run its

Course

Let it be organic

Let it breathe—

This is not about utility.

Let it happen

Let it flow

Participate

Engage

In all the parts

That frustrate you

Most

The dance,

Although delicate,

At points,

Can be learned

Although it feels

Awkward

At first

Don’t give up

You’ll hit a stride

You’ll find your

Creative rhythm

And flow

And then it will change

(Again.

Have fun.)
