Everyone Should Have Pink Shampoo.
I tend to buy very practical things. I even went through a natural shampoo phase. Hair nightmare. They just don’t work.
So, I made my way back to the chemicals, trying to, at least give the hair what it wants…the nutrients the waves truly crave.
Then, somehow I found myself picking out an Herbal Essence rose shampoo.
It’s pink.
It smells like roses.
It reminds me of my childhood.
My mother did not like scents, but somehow, maybe on those long pool days…at some point, Herbal Essence became the most luxurious of shampoos a little girl could use from a summer friend.
Okay, we get it, shampoo chats aren’t that interesting…
But something struck me as I analyzed this frivolous, pink shampoo:
Everyone should have pink shampoo.
My roommate is constantly quoting the Scripture, “Our days are numbered” (Job 14:5). So, unless you have a strong conviction about shampoo (hey, that’s cool)—why not get the one that brings back the memories? That gives a dose of joy?
The one that reminds you of the best flower there is?
Why not pursue the things that make us come alive?
Why not throw out our fake morals about shampoos n’ such and choose delight?
I’m pretty sure the little joys outweigh the negative health effects that overthinking shampoo will do anyway.
In an anxious world, why not contend for joy a little more profoundly in the small things?
